As a Northern Virginia Wedding Photographer I want to take in all that Northern Virginia has to offer. About a month ago I was honored to be a part of the House of Pearl Workshop. House of Pearl is comprised of Wedding Designers Jessica Ashley Events and Terry Kaye Events. They are both incredibly talented ladies who add a little something extra to everything they do. This workshop also allowed me to network with other photographers, videographers, and wedding planners and learn from them. It was such a unique experience to be able to see how everyone viewed things differently and how their photos came out compared to mine.
This year’s workshop was a Country Western Chic inspired styled shoot with a full wedding reception setup, outdoor ceremony, tent, rehearsal dinner and so much more. I loved how the theme came together and created something really unique in the heart of Northern Virginia at Still Meadow Farm in Purcellville, VA. It was the perfect backdrop for this country wedding and was truly a serene place to be. Between the cows, rolling hills, and modern barn it was truly Country Chic.
One of the biggest things I took away from this experience was how to view things differently than others. I thought to myself “There are literally 30 photographers here taking photos of the same things. How can I find a different angle? How can I look at this differently than they have looked at it?” This allowed me to be stretched and create something different than how others saw it. That’s what is so cool about being a photographer. I can make something that is unique to my art.
I also LOVED the combinations of patterns, textures and colors. Every table was different but still it all came together into this one beautiful design that, honestly, made me feel like I was in some resort in Montana.
