Getting Married in Northern Virginia

You may have grown up in Northern Virginia, or you may live in the busy streets of DC. Or maybe you’re from California or Texas and are looking for a charming and historic place to say your I do’s away from all the business of your life. Wherever you are from Northern Virginia is an incredible place to get married. From the scenery to the quiet luxury of the hunt country region and the world-renowned wedding vendors located right in the middle of it all. This is one of the top places in the U.S. to have your wedding. So, here’s why you should get married in Northern Virginia:

Historic and Beautiful Venues

The venues in Northern Virginia have vast landscapes, historic buildings where Presidents have walked, and charm that draws you in. With Historic sites like Raspberry Plain Manor, The Estate at River Run, and The Red Fox Inn & Tavern or newer historic venues like The Manor 1858, there is so much character that makes you feel like you’re at an elegant affair and in the warmth of someones beautiful home all at the same time. Between the estates, modern barns, and old town vibes in Alexandria or Leesburg you really have so much to choose from.

Incredible Natural Scenery

If you’re anything like me, you may have envisioned your wedding day somewhere where you can get a little lost. Somewhere out where you can’t hear the sounds of emergency vehicles or beeping car horns. Somewhere where you can clearly hear the wind as it gently touches your face or the birds singing in the trees. Northern Virginia is FILLED TO THE BRIM with places like this.

Some of my favorite venues to get lost are Glenstone Gardens, Heigh Torr Estate, and Oak Barn at Loyalty. These places boast of acres of serenity while still being close enough to two major airports that it’s easy for your guests to come from near and far.

Convenient Location

Like I said in the last point, Northern Virginia is close to 2 major international airports. If you’re not local or if you have guests coming from out of state Reagan International Airport (DCA) and Dulles International Airport (IAD) are both close to all that Northern Virginia has to offer.

On top of that, you have lots of hotels to choose from for your guests! There are even cute boutique hotels and bed and breakfasts like Hotel Burg in Leesburg, Briar Patch Bed & Breakfast, The Red Fox Inn , & Goodstone Inn in Middleburg. The possibilities are truly endless.

Top Food & Drink

If you aren’t sold already, did you know that Virginia has over 300 wineries and is the fifth largest grape producing state. You can get all of the beauty of places like Napa while still feeling like you’re in a quaint town.

If you really love wine you can even get married at several wineries in the area like Fleetwood Farm Winery, Stone Tower Winery, or Tranquility Farm. The views are amazing and you can give your guests a unique experience with local wine flights and a walk through the vines.

And if you’re a big foodie like me, many wedding venues are highly rated for their food and service. Or if you like a more intimate feel you can have your reception at one of the many historic restaurants that offer a unique atmosphere and food that you’ll remember for years to come.

Award Winning and World-Renowned Vendors

Here’s one last reason why you should get married in Northern Virginia. And this is a really big one. After starting my photography business in New England, I moved to Northern Virginia for my husband’s job and had to start over. In the time that I have been in Northern Virginia I have been blown away by the community of wedding vendors here. There are so many vendors who are great at their craft but who are also just really kind and loving people to work with.

And since I have worked with so many vendors I am always happy to recommend these good people to my couples. Because you want a wedding day that has good vibes and not just beautiful things to look at.

So, what are you waiting for!? Northern Virginia is considered a destination wedding location and I think you can see why. Book your flight to do some venue tours or reach out to me for recommendations!
