This was my first black tie wedding event. Of course I’ve been to weddings where people have dressed up and everyone is looking their best, but this is the first time I’ve been to a wedding where most of the men were in tuxes and most of the women were in gowns. It felt like a royal event, but it still had the warmth and love of a small backyard wedding.
Stoke Farm is a very unique place. From the terracotta roof, to the french like gardens, to the stone work and pillars that transported you to a different world and a different time. It was one of the most unique experiences I’ve had as a photographer and it is certainly not one I will soon forget. This place is not only unbelievably beautiful, but it holds a special place in the hearts of their family as her father used to go there as a young boy. The place where they got ready was an old farm close to where her father grew up. It was just such a special day.
The bride came down the aisle to one of my favorite Lord Huron songs “Ends of the Earth” and their first dance was to a song by one of my favorite bands Fleetwood Mac. Every little detail was perfectly executed and Kelly’s vision came to life. The weather was beyond perfect which made for a great time of dancing underneath the stars on the dance floor that was made for their wedding day. It was just magic.
I wish I could share the entire day with you. For now, here are some words from the groom himself:
“Two moments stand out from Saturday:
The first was seeing Kelly walk through a pergola of wisteria down to the garden where our ceremony took place while a string trio played our favorite song. It was the exact scene we had dreamed about for over 7 years since we first came to Stoke Farm together.
And the second was when we were finishing up our dinner at the sweetheart table and looked out across the tables of guests. Not one person wasn’t engaged in conversation with someone else, a lot of them meeting for the first time, and it filled us with so much joy seeing everyone else laughing and smiling with each other.”
