Mélanie and Jeff met while Mélanie was an Au Pair in the DC area. Sparks flew quickly and they knew that it would be worth the INTERNATIONAL long distance relationship for a while.
Jeff flew to France, met her family, and while the distance was difficult they were willing to make it work. He proposed to her by the Tower Bridge in London and got married a few months later.
We decided on the Jefferson Memorial for their engagement photos kind of last minute. It was an insanely hot and humid late summer night and they wanted a beautiful place. Luckily, since it was a hot and humid weekday evening the Jefferson Memorial only had a few people at it and it was easy to get the photos they wanted without working around other people. Their photos captured one of the most beautiful monuments in DC.
One of the things I love most about taking photos at the Jefferson Memorial is also having a beautiful view of the Washington Monument and the Tidal Basin. It is quintessential DC and also feels really romantic.
Their wedding is next year and I am so excited to capture all of their special moments! Less than 1 year away!!!
