Engagement Photography Washington DC

Washington, DC has an unbelievable history and amount of places to take your engagement photos. How can you possibly choose one?

I have done photos at several locations in DC but there are just some that take the cake for me. Here are my 3 favorite engagement photography Washington DC spots (or wedding photography spots too)!

Jefferson Memorial | Engagement Photography Washington DC

The Jefferson Memorial is one of my absolute favorite places to photograph in Washington DC. The neutral colors, the luxurious white marble, and the multitude of areas to take photos with our without tourists is amazing! The sun set happens to the right of the memorial and creates the most dreamy glow for your sunset photos.

If you do photos at the Jefferson Memorial I recommend going on a weekday or around sunrise to avoid the most people. The photos above were taken around sunset on a weekday evening and we had very few people around us.

Note: you may need a permit to take photos at the Jefferson Memorial (especially if you want to take photos their on your wedding day).

Union Station

Union Station is a BEAUTIFUL and rain friendly spot to do engagement or wedding photos! The photos seen above were taken outside during a very stormy day and we were able to stay dry the entire time without umbrellas or anything else. The inside is also a gorgeous backdrop but may likely be filled with more people.

Union Station is also a very neutral backdrop which allows for lots of different colors variations and outfits without clashing or being overwhelming in the photos.

Nation Cathedral

If you’re wanting a traditional and extravagant place for your engagement or wedding photos than the National Cathedral is the perfect spot. It has multiple locations for so many different looks and varieties that you don’t need to go anywhere else.

Parking is located beneath the church and is easy to get to and costs about $7.

Note: a permit is required to do photos here. They have some rules, which are easy to abide by, that you and your photographer may want to review before taking photos there.
